Brewing in the Glow of Captain Pabst’s Legacy

In 1863 Frederick Pabst’s career as a ship’s captain came to an abrupt halt when he ran aground coming into Milwaukee Harbor, leading him to buy a partnership in his father-in-law’s small brewery. Luckily for beer lovers everywhere, Pabst was far better at navigating the arts of brewing and commerce than the waters of Lake Michigan, and soon he was churning out over 100,000 barrels of beer a year. The rest is, as they say, history.
